The selected countries include: Argentina, Australia, Japan, the United States, Spain, France or Italy. Country selection enables you to tune in with the trends popular in your place of origin or choice. Netflix adapts its catalogue according to different geographical positions and keeps changing overtime. This means that not all the countries have access to the same movies, and that some of its content varies overtime. If your country is still not in the list, do not worry. IMDb —which stands for Internet Movie Database— is an online database of information related to films, television programs, home videos, video games, and streaming content online. These include cast, production crew and personal biographies, plot summaries, trivia, ratings, and fan and critical reviews.

IMDb includes ratings as part of its activities, which are based on votes by users registered on the platform. This ratings are part of the data that Bestwatch uses to perform its services. As of 8 June 2021, The Shawshank Redemption is No. 1 on the list. Only regular user votes are counted, but the number of votes a registered user would have to make to be considered as a user who votes regularly has been kept secret. IMDb has stated that to maintain the effectiveness of the Top 250 list they "deliberately do not disclose the criteria used for a person to be counted as a regular voter.”
